And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Mat 25:40
He avoided eye contact and was evasive. My mild and friendly questions got answered but barely so. His wife was a bit more engaging, yet she also had this shallow touch of a person not fully present.
I asked my friend later and he confirmed my suspicion: Cannabis. It is pointless to play the blame game or fully discern between cause and effect. The results remain. They had lost custody of their children, were unable to work, had failing health, and struggled with short attention spans.
Subconsciously my Excel sheet boxed mind starts his practical calculations. Is it practical to minister to this couple? No, probably not. Just minutes and hours lost.
The words of Jesus come to the rescue.
“As you did…to one of the least…you did…to me” says Jesus. Not minutes and hours lost anymore but minutes and hours to and for Him. And He is the eternal one. That means that nothing spent on and for Him is lost. Ever. It will remain for eternity with Him and in His care.
Such a wonderful reminder of how Jesus loves individuals and also that we do not live our lives for ourselves but for Him. Would Jesus take the time to speak and minister to this couple? Absolutely. Thanks for the inspiration

Thank you Greg – appreciate the feedback!
Great message for all of us. Redeeming the moments with people even when you feel it’s a waste of time and they’re not listening. Love this A!
